    Hi

I have an Asus n53sv (1366 screen, i3, 4 gig ram) which has served me very well but i'm having some problems. First of all, it's starting to overheat, it reaches 85 degrees for both gpu and cpu. I already have a cooling pad but it doesn't work that well because the asus doesn't have any ventilation holes underneath like other laptops, so i figure the cool air from the cooling pad doesn't reach the cpu heatsink. I'm thinking of disassembling it and drilling some "holes" exactly under the cpu. Something like this http://image.shutterstock.com/displ...with-large-holes-in-mesh-pattern-38134006.jpg

Cool air intake from underneath, warm air exhaust from the built in cpu cooler. Problem solved?

Also, I found on youtube a replacement full HD screen and i'm wondering, can the gt540m handle the full HD? Has anybody done this? Or better yet, do all the FHD versions of the n53 come with better GPUs?

Regarding temps, 85C isn't too bad if you are gaming. (If you're doing nothing, then that is a bad temperature.)

Before drilling holes, have you already tried cleaning out dust and reapplying thermal paste to the CPU heatsink?
