    Hello,

I have been considering buying an Asus n551jw, but unfortunately the only options available to me are ones with regular HDDs. As there are configurations with a HDD and an SSD, I suspect there should be a (possibly mSATA) port to install a second HDD. My question is whether the port is accessible enough to do it at home, or it needs serious disassembly (possibly loss of warranty).

Thanks very much for all info!

Due to different Asus models having different slots depending on the exact base configuration I would contact the reseller to double check. Very likely the answer is the slot is not there on them.

Sometimes the motherboards within the same series vary, other times they don't; only the components installed do. Echoing what Meaker said: The only way to find out for sure would be to contact a reseller of your choice that stocks the system. They will be able to confirm what can and cannot be installed/upgraded.

    Good luck!
