It used to be $949 and I was planning to get it next week but now its not sold by amazon 1st party and its $1,249. Should I wait till the price to go down? When (do you think) will that happen?

The increase in retail price is most likely set by Asus and not by Amazon. Price increase sometimes happens when Asus sees a higher than expected demand from the market. However, Amazon 3rd party resellers often sets their own prices at their digression and can often be higher than what Amazon offers. If I were you, I wouldn't purchase anything that is above the retail price.
