I have bought a Asus N71ja last weekend and i think it was a mistake. i have a problem with 'cpu whining', the situation was so annoying that i decide to give it back to shop. And now i don't know what i should do, should i take the another n71ja or change a laptop to another one? it is possible that the second n71ja will not have a problem with 'cpu whining'?

CPU whine is a common problem in many laptops undergoing the C4 power state. If you do end up with another laptop that shows the same symptom, you can try disabling C4 with RMClock (free).

i have tried to do this but rmclock is not able to recognise the CPU i5-430m so i was not able to make the c4 state off. I installed win 7 32 bit and run hlt command but then the computer is very noisy and warm. The man in shop said that it is the first whining problem with n71 series. Every notebook on market has a problem with whining? Now i use n71jv, whining is only when firefox uses a java or flashplayer. My n72ja whines every time and whining during using battery was very pitched and annoying.

I'm not so familiar with the N71 series, but have you checked your BIOS settings to see if there's an option to disable C4 there? You can also try setting your laptop to performance mode and see if that helps. I believe that will stop your laptop going into any low power states.

hm, i have tried every method in internet, i think so. when i open(f2) BIOS, there is only a few option, about fancy start and etc, nothing about power management.
