    Hey guys, i got my n80 from newegg today!
    Im actually not supposed to use this (parents) until another 2 weeks, but they said it was ok for me to open it and check it out and make sure everything worked.
    So....
    First off!
    SEXY!
    yea... very nice looking laptop... very nice.
    Well, first things first... the box:

    Wow, this is the bain of this computer's existance! The keyboard SUCKS there is a ton of flex, the keys don't click down, just kinda smush down, the strokes are really shallow, and the FN and CTRL are reversed....

    Overall, very good looking, very nice.
    The mouse buttons are kinda hard to push, and i already talked about the keyboard... Also, everything is a fingerprint magnet! Overall, the system was very responsive, and ran WIC quite nicely...
    I am sad to say (and reason why this is so short), i noticed that every 15 seconds, my fan seams to make a noise like it is hitting something, so i already called newegg and had them do an RMA :)
    So, ill have more up when i get my new one :(

    well, i'm going to hope i got a bad apple (bad keyboard and odd fan issue)... as long as the fan is working correctaly on the new one, ill be happy

    Your CPU temps there are way high. My CPU maxes out at <60C when gaming. Your fan is clearly not working correctly. I think you have the pictures reversed, but even so your CPU is idling at 70C!

    As for the keyboard, that is not a problem localized to your particular computer. I like the short key travel, but it does have irritating flex and chatter.

    its not like the keyboard absolutely sucks.... mine flexes a bit, but its something you gotta live with. Its not like i'm punching the keys, so it doesn't flex that much. the 1 thing about the keyboard that is a valid complaint is that if you don't press the some keys down enough, it won't register.

    Couldn't you have dealt directly with Asus? They may have faster turn-around.

    yea, i was going to, but asus said since it was 5 hrs old, its better to send it back...
    now i don't get my $100 rebate either... if not for the rebate, i would not have even gotten this!

    YAY!!!
    Asus said they will acomidate (sp?) me!

    WOOT!

    Got my N80 today. Working fine until I pick it up to move it, kinda tilt it fan hicks up on something and stop spinning. 90 + degree is hot. To bad newegg closed down by the time I got it.

    Asus is good. Overnight delivery back to California and overnight back here to Washington. Though I have to wait until monday/tuesday because of the weekend.

    yea, i should have done that, but the Asus guy said jsut to exchange it since its 5 hrs old xD

    i have a feeling that newegg was sitting on a pile of screwy ones, hence the $50 coupon and the rebate xD

    Mine is good so far except the ksys to the left of "s" been clackier. Temps are idling ~52C CPU, 45C GPU, 39C HD, 50C ACPI...I hope they stay that way. Will report back after 3DMark06 bench.

    Yeah, after I let it run downloading firefox, pcmark05, mcafee, zonealarm, etc...About half hour in the temps got right up around 66C peak then started falling pretty steady. Maybe the fan just needed to break in, loosen up a little bit. I sure am glad that it's not messed up though... :)

    well, the RMA place in california gets it on the 27th...
    then a week or so before they issue a replacement (if they test it in a loud place and say there is nothing wrong, im going to be so pissed) then a day or so to get back...
