Does anyone have experience with Vista and an Asus notebook? It would be nice to hear about such experience. Some versions have already been available for quite some time (through MSDN and volume licensing), did anyone install it already? How did it go, did everything work right away? Were all drivers found automatically, or did you have to download them separately?

There were some rumors earlier that the new features of Vista, mainly the Aero interface could affect battery life ... at the same time Microsoft claims that Vista is very notebook friendly. So it would be nice to hear about how battery life changed after moving to Vista.

But generally, any experience you can share would be nice to read :)

My experience with the battery anyways is that is seems to stay the same as with XP, not sure with Asus notebooks though.

Well I have Vista installed on my G1 for about a week and everything is running very smoothly except that a few drivers are missing. The battery is about the same I guess btw.

Everything should be online once it's available.

I had Vista RTM on my V6Va for about 3 weeks. I installed it without a key so I know I'll have to get rid of it within a month. Generally, it looks very nice. The clear type font looks much better than in Win XP. The aero interface looks pretty. Boot time feel faster that Win XP and the GUI feel snappier. It recognized almost everything at install time as long as you have internet connection. Looks like it downloaded Bluetooth stack, Atheros WiFi driver, Hcontrol and the SD card reader driver automatically.

Hcontrol is not ready for Vista at the moment. Most of the button on the notebook doesn't work or works differently. The brigthness up and down work fine. The volume and mute button don't work. Some of my software doesn't install properly or need new version.

That's about it. Overall, I like it a lot, but I am going to wait until the drivers and software stabilize a bit before I upgrade.
