My VX2S is 3 weeks old and I have both Vista Ultimate and XP SP2 running on it. When playing games such as World of Warcraft or Oblivion, after anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes of gameplay, the VX2S will power down instantly, shutting itself down. The screen goes black and all power goes out. It occurs in both Vista and XP SP2.

Using temperature monitoring I was able to tell the temperatures seem normal. In fact, I can run 3DMark06 which pushes the GPU 10 degrees hotter and I have yet to have a shutdown during 3DMark06.

    GPU is Nvidia 8600M GT
    Using drivers 169.04 from laptopvideo2go

    Normal Temperatures: GPU 56 C, CPU 46 C
    Game Temperatures: GPU 70 C, CPU 60 C

Could this problem be a bad Graphics chip (GPU) or motherboard issue?

    How could I diagnose this?
