Indeed its weird.....not every CC shopper knows how to put together a computer, let alone a barebone laptop!

Its not available in stores.....If it was, I would have forced my mom there, and get her to OK an S96J or an A8Jm. Unfortunate, so I will get an XPS M1210 instead....

I was gonna post the same thing. Last week I went to The Source (Circuit City owned in Canada), and noticed ASUS notebooks available (W5F, A6J etc). Previously I only knew they were available at Office Depot.

Looks like they're starting to enter the retail market.

TS:CC always had ASUS laptops IIRC, well ever since they went from RadioShack to TS:CC. OD has it as well, but I haven't seen them on display at all, only at TS:CC's.

    What's up,
That's cool. Does anyone know if they also carry ensemble notebooks at Circuit City here in NA, or is it just in Canada?

    What's up,
Oh I see. Lucky canadians haha. Hopefully CC/TS realizes how popular and well built these notebooks are (all they have to do is look at this board!) and takes a chance by carrying the ensemble models in NA in the near future.
    Thanks,
    Jake

You saw a W5F at THE Source? The Source has been carrying Asus laptops for a while now...actually almost even before Office Depot did...but they only seemed to carry the lower end ensembles like the "A" series. I've never seen any of the nicer models there...I'll have to check it out.
I wondered why they didn't offer the other ensembles way back when...but then I figured the people buying laptops at the source, wouldn't be willing to pay the higher prices...so that's why they only brought in the "A" series.
Looks like now they think they call pull off selling some of the nicer systems. It's definitely good exposure for Asus. :)

Yeah, saw 1 W5F at TS:CC Square One, and another one this morning at TS:CC Vaughan Mills.

On a side note, does anybody actually buy anything from The Source Circuit City? They're quite ridiculously overpriced. Case in point, I was browsing digital cameras, the Casio Exilim EX Z600 was $349, while at Canada Computers? only $309 ... that's a $40 difference.

I never thought I'd be jealous of the Canadians for their electronics availability. Usually they're the ones complaining that things haven't reached them yet!

I just hope that by ASUS becoming mainstream.. that their quality won't go down and become just another brand name. I like how ASUS is mostly known by buyers who do their research. Kinda makes us "elite". :p
