    Hi guys,

After crawling through the web for the past week learning more and more about notebooks, I've decided to pick up an Asus for it's great looks and build quality! :D

Asus produces so many great products that it's hard to choose! Before I go into my choices, let me give you a lil background about me. I'm about to become a first year law student. Going to school part time and work full time is going to almost kill me so I figure I should treat myself to something nice. ;)

My requirements are pretty simple. I don't play games. I'd use the machine mainly for internet, music, office, photoshop, and *maybe* video editing if the machine will allow it. There will also be random software programs required for school and downloading random stuff off the net. The most intensive thing I can see myself doing is using the webcam and phone on YM to speak to my father in Taiwan while surfing the net and editing photos / writing papers. I know that combination will freeze my current laptop but hey, it's a old P4 1.8Ghz T30. I've maxed out the RAM to an entire 1GB but still no luck...

From reading on this site and many others, I feel that what would be best for me would be a notebook in the "thin and light" category. Maybe a W3V or the W7J. I don't know if I truely need duo core but I do feel that a dedicated graphics card would be good, especially when everyone converts to Vista in the next year or two. If those of you more knowledgable than I that a have better suggestion, please let me know! My choices are limited to what is available in Northern America and Taiwan (can get my dad to bring it back).

As I've stated before, I never knew Asus made such great laptops. I can't wait to own one myself! Thank you guys in advance.

If that's your only requirements, probably the W7J would be best... 13.3" WXGA, has webcam .... and decent dedicated graphics card...

You're easy.... and hard at the same time...... No games, no 3d graphic work... but you're trying to decide between two little powerhouses meant for gaming and 3d graphic work. If you are stuck on the two, I'd also say the W7 because the lighter weight and smaller footprint will make you want to carry it around a bit more and you don't need the super graphics of the W3..... plus there is a built in webcam, and that's basically the one thing you're wanting, so might as well have it on the system.

Oh yes... I didn't even realize that the W3V doesn't have a webcam. Thanks for pointing that out!
