Im going to keep this short and simple. I have a G50Vt-X5, a refurbished notebook given to me by Asus as a replacement for my burnt-out G1S-B2. It has already broken down twice - once upon arrival and again two days ago. The first time it was the hard drive and this time it was the mother board. Both times i took the machine to the Asus office in Markham, Ontario. Both times the machine was fixed for free (the first time i had warranty, the second time i didnt have warranty (!!!)) in under an hour.
I dont care that the laptop broke twice - these things just happen. What i care about is that this company has gone out of its way to keep me as a happy and satisfied customer... which i am.
    +1 for Asus.

I've also had good experiences up at Markham, I have their direct # so I've called them a few times. They'd call me when they had the part I needed and when I'd go down I'd just be waiting in the waiting room for 5-15 minutes depending on what they were doing and I got my Z96JS back with a new LCD screen (a few actually because of a low brightness flickering issue - which they fixed by not letting you dim the screens all the way off anymore :p), a replacement ODD and a few other changes over the years. Certainly better than having to go through ASUS North American Tech Support #. It could be a little more central - but it's 10-15 mins from my home so I can't complain - though if the 407 were a regular Highway it'd be better :p.

The only time they really screwed up was they ordered a low resolution 1280x screen for my 1680x1050 Z96JS once basically downgrading me to a Z96J/S96J - but I was right there in the room so I got it switched back in 10 minutes and they had a new order in with the right #. Otherwise no complaints :).

P.S. They also replaced my ODD 2 months past warranty - good place, good people :). Hence 3 years later I got another ASUS Laptop (the G51Jx) and I almost look forward to going back sometime... almost :p. Also bought an ASUS A696 PDA as well and no regrets there either, also got it fixed without issue - definitely worth it to lenient to keep or make a loyal customer :).

issued on the spot or did you have to go through regular tech support? forgot to ask the last time i was there.

we appreciate it because it's an hour drive from anywhere in the GTA :D (minus rush hour traffic from toronto)

    It's a great place indeed.
I had dropped off my G1S-A1 to get it fixed as it was 2 months past warranty over the past summer, and they managed to get it replaced for me. Got a G50VT-X5 replacement from Asus, it took about a month, but I finally yelled and screamed at them enough that they managed to get it to me even though I was on vacation at the time they sent it to me, they were 4 days late on the shipping. Sure I had to pay about $190 bucks for the parts which really I was just paying for addtional warranty and they just replaced the laptop as the G1S were unfixable. Lost out on my high resolution screen but ohwell can't complain much as I got a replacement laptop for a laptop that was out of warranty even if I did have a pay which I didn't mind.

And yes I'll continue to buy Asus products because Asus has always been great for me.

Markham service centre is a very good place indeed.
