    has anyone tried this before? i was thinking of trying to get my laptop fixed. since im starting to get the heating issue with the gpu! does anyone know how much it costs? or maybe an estimate and is it worth it?

    I did this, in the Netherlands. Besides the cost of the components itself, I paid an extra 70EUR for shipping and work.

    Moreover the initial damage estimate did not include the mainboard + some other components, which in the end turned up to also be faulty. But I was NOT charged for these components, even though they were exchanged. Just a bureaucratic oversight I expect, though. All in all, a pretty good experience.

    But that was 2 years ago, and in the Netherlands. So your own experience may be quite different.

    Are you in the US or abroad?

    In the US, resellers BTOTech.com and GenTechPC.com both do Asus repair off-warranty. Contact info is available at their websites.

    my laptop is doing great so far. took out the gpu cover at the bottom and running cooler. i do clean it on a regular basis to avoid dust build ups..

    I think that is valid for not only ASUS but also for all the laptop brands. I don't know of any laptop whose motherboard can be replaced below $400. LCD is silimar too...
