Hi. I just installed Vista on my G1S today and I have a couple of questions about the programs. I downloaded everything from the Asus support site, except the VGA.
Can anybody give me information on what exactly these programs do and whether or not I need them?
    checkmail (email led utility)
    powerforphone
    multiframe
    ip switch
    instantfun
    nb software kit
    keyboard device filter
chicony cnf6131 camera driver (installation failed but the other driver on the site worked.)
    virtual camera

Also I installed Power4Gear Extreme but it doesn't autostart as well as there nothing in its program files. And Wireless Console doesn't disable WLan.

    Thanks.

In my opinion, you don't need.
Powerforphone - unless u need Sykpe like services.

Multiframe - allows for window manipulations, u see the icon right beside the minimize button, play around with it and decide whether u want it or not.

Ipswitch - probably useless for you.

Instant Fun - ain't so fun, press the instantfun button and you will see what happens, but its quite uesless in my opinion.

P4G Extreme, well Vista has its own power management or you can use third party programs, like RMClock and NHC.

Note: To get this in startup, place the P4G Extreme Icon in the Startup folder and that will make it auto start.

The problem is that I can't find the P4GX application anywhere. However its control panel shows up in the power options... strange.
And does anyone know about the other apps? Especially Virtual Camera... I just can't figure out what it does.

i would like to know what Virtual Camera does as well.. NB Probe do you mean? if you mean NB Probe, that basically is like looking in the properties of your computer. it tells you how much space of ur hard drives is taken up and if your cpu is running at top speed/how cold/hot it is...
