Is there a company out there that sells genuine replacement batteries for Asus laptops? (not EEpc).

Every single company i can find via google turns out to be a UK front for a dodgy chinese company selling fake batteries with very short lives etc.
A quick search of reviews shows the batteries to be low quality and pretty much no chance of a refund if you get the thing at all.

Also, my current laptop (M51VR) comes with a 4800mah battery. Do Asus (or anyone respectable) do an increased capacity version ?

The battery part number in my laptop is listed as "A32-F3 4800mah". Ive found a few amazon sellers claiming to stock this along with Duracell but they all quote 4400mah. What is the real capacity?

Is there an official Asus shop or site to get spares in the UK?

Yup. Don't know if they have your part, though, you'll have to give it a skim yourself.
