---> I just read that (on another thread) Asus s96J does not have DVI, but according to the specs below it does. Has anyone ever heard of adamant.com? Reputable seller?

I don't see dvi anywhere under the specs listed. But the s96j does not have dvi. There might be a dock we can attach but this i am not sure and hopefully someone else will clarify.
-
No, the S96J and Z96J do not support DVI. There is also no dock that supports it to the best of my knowledge.

Thanks- I'm still deciding between the DELL E1505 and the Asus S96J.
My budget is $1400, so far I found Dell.com, Adamant.com, and Gentechpc.com which fit my budget and my computing needs. -

You can also check out www.geared2play.com and www.powernotebooks.com, they are good dealers as well. I have heard good things about GentechPC.
The Asus has far better quality than the Dell and a much more powerful GPU . .I would go with the S96J if you are willing to spend the extra cash, it is well worth it. -
What about hp nc8430?
The GPU is x1600 and it can be used with a dock with dvi port. http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/sm/WF04a/321957-64295-89315-321838-f1.html -

It does not have dvi. It has a port hole and motherboard dock for it but no welded connection. Not sure why they did this. Pretty stupid of them not to integrate dvi. Then again there is not much advantage over existing vga.
-
Do you know whether there is a dock with DVI coming?

Well the z96j is next to come however the sample we got did not have dvi though it was a hybrid z/s96j. So there is a chance. I have not seen the final version yet.

ok bigbear, i say go for the S96j if you want a lower res and have no need for Bluetooth, the S96j does not have DVI. (you can see from reviews)
The new Z96j costs roughly 50$ more depending on specs so you may want that, it has a higher resolution screen and internal bluetooth, my best bet it doesn't have DVI.
the e1505 is inferior in terms of performance compared to the s96j, z96j and thats why i recommend the s96j.
Also DVI may not seem all the important now, so what if you really can't see the difference between VGA than DVI on a 20" Widescreen LCD, but here's the catch, when you have a TV, one of those 32" LCD TV or a big Apple cinema display, your gonna need DVI.
DVI is important any it is extremely close to becoming standard on all laptops in the future.
There may be an external solution to this problem, a dock, just like the the HP one you linked. I know there's a kensington dock for 100$ but last time i checked there was no DVI port.
But i'm sure in the future Kensington or another company can make a dock and it will have DVI, meaning the internal DVI on a lapotp will not become a real problem.
You may wanna search around for that.
Hope this helps.
