I have a N53SV-A1 laptop. I noticed that when I am using the battery (i.e. not plugged in), and surfing the internet, that when a large picture is shown on the screen that the section of the screen (the entire width) where the picture is located will flicker (blink).

I then noticed that the color depth is changed from 32 bit to 16 bit when the laptop is unplugged from the wall, and that if changed it back to 32 bit, the screen would not flicker or blink when looking at pictures on the internet.

After search around for the longest time, I found a link ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus/442683-disable-power4gear-color-depth-change.html) about the Power4gear that talks about how this little gadget/program changes the color depth when the laptop is unplugged. All you have to do is disable this function and you should not have the problem anymore.

Hope this helps anyone else who has been frustrated with this laptop.
