I recently visited Asus website and couldn't find G51j anywhere. At least on US portal. Looks like G51j has turned out to be a failure?

The US Asus web page does not get updated very well. You can't find the G60 either.

Glad I'm not the only one that is picky about LCD quality.

Not that I don't care about screen quality, because really I do. As long as it's similiar to the quality in my current G2S I'll be just fine. The backlight bleed did bother me at first but I ended up getting used to it. I've asked if anyone can compare the two screens, but apparently nobody here has had the opportunity to do so. But really....how often do people sit there and stare at a black screen anyway? lol

As I mentioned several times, the screen actually looks ok in well lit rooms. If you are on a darker room, the brightness will make the blacks look gray and the viewing angles will be even more limited.

Besides I have an external 1080p 37inch HDTV with amazing 179 degree viewing angles. Does my HDTV kick my G51J screen's ? Sure it does. Does it affect me? Not at all, as I am always in well lit rooms and the screen is more than fine. :)

For 100dlrs more though, I would indeed get a better screen. :p

Even when watching movies in letterbox with the black bars above and below, the bottom is noticeably lighter than the top (which can wash out or appear like a negative).

In a bright environment with something bright on the screen it's not bad. Overall I got used to it and still happy with my notebook.

I owned a Dell Inspiron 9300 back in the day and the LCD was defective and died within 2 years. I'm never buying a garbage Dell again.

Hey Abula it's here! I posted about it in the Sager forum if you're interested. Don't want to continue derailing this thread.
