ASUS looks set to release five Sandy Bridge laptops, all with serious horsepower -- Engadget

was posted a while ago .. best gpu 460m .. not interested ..
want a minimum gtx480m .. in my next gaming notebook .. rest I call budget notebooks -
What is this?! I thought I7 Q2720 was going to be mainstream SB CPUs with Asus gaming series laptops, and 2820 and 2920 on the hardcore models? And the same GPU as the "old" G73/G53s? What about the 6000 series from ATI?
I am a little dissapointed i must say. Hopefully they will come to their senses..
Maybe the G53SW and the G73SW is just a small refresh while Asus is working on G54/G74 with a whole new design/hardware etc? -
I read that asus wasn't doing ATI cards for their G series anymore, something about optimus being a requirement...
-
Hm still 1366x768 screens on the N53.
It's becoming hard to find a quality screen on notebooks these days. I'll have to see what the apple or envy refresh looks like for my next purchase. -
Dunno what Amd is doing with 6000 MR series - but optimus requirement somewhat makes sense with Asus - after all all Sandy bridge is suppose to be great with battery. Held off getting any laptop with i7 quad simply due to terrible battery, this might actually be the year I go for a i7-2xx0 laptop.
460M is to be expected I think - cos both 470/480M are literally too expensive to produce. Even if NV's mobility series refreshes like desktop at CES, it still would be small refresh, than major boost. Must say expected a more exciting refresh. :/ -
I read that the Asus G53SW will be only $1,300. I find this interesting because the current G53Jw costs around $1,400. I would think that the price of the current G73 and G53 models would drop significantly after the sandybridge versions come out. Any speculations on this?

Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
or the P4 was displaced with the yonah.
Now for the real prices, they should maintain itself in the same place as they currently are. No laptop for a long time has increased the prices, they just have drop, if you consider inflation they have drop quite clearly. -

There will probably be a SB refresh of that.

Maybe this could happen after the refresh.

. I believe the NBR review said the display itself was average.
I'd settle for 1600x900 or 1440x900 as long as they had respectable viewing angles and good color/contrast/brightness. My F3SV is feeling its age.. so I'm hoping asus will take a que from HP, Dell, and Apple and try offering some premium displays as the demand definitely exists. I only play SC2 and some FPS so a GT 540m more than meets those needs.
I'd be willing to pay $100-$200 more for a model with a good to excellent screen. Something like the radiance or MBP screens would be great.
