Hello fellows. Used to be a frequent poster on this board but that was years ago.

I have a question about the memory used for the Asus u31. The laptop comes with 4GB of DDR3 PC 10600 1333MHZ memory. It normally runs at 1066MHZ but with the overclocking feature ( 2.53GHZ i3 to 2.9GHZ i3 ) I see the RAM jump up to 1333MHZ in performance mode.

I bought 8GB of G-skill DDR3 PC 10666 1333MHZ memory and after the installation the computer would no longer POST. I knew I needed to reset the CMOS but doing so myself would have voided my warranty. So I send the laptop and RAM back to newegg for an RMA.

My question is: Does anyone know if -

    Newegg.com - G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Laptop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-8GBSQ

    will work with the Asus u31jg? Newegg.com - ASUS U31 Series U31JG-A1 NoteBook Intel Core i3 380M(2.53GHz) 13.3" 4GB Memory DDR3 1333 500GB HDD 5400rpm NVIDIA GeForce GT 415M + Intel HD

Do I have to have PC10600 for this laptop? Some specs list DDR1066 as the maximum speed of the RAM for the u31 and other places ( including Asus and Newegg ) list it as DDR3 1333MHZ ram. Do you think I just got a bad batch of memory from G-Skill?

Any elaboration will be useful. u31 discussion is almost non-existent on the web right now.

Also as you can see; the discussion on the RAM itself is just 150 reviews of whether or not it works with the failbook pro.

I've got the U41JF and just installed the same RAM. It actually continually reboots the machine for about 3-4 times before it works. Did the same thing when I updated the BIOS, so I guess that's just how the BIOS detects things. If you're just waiting for 1 boot, then just let it sit for a minute or so.

Interesting thing is, it disables the DVD drive for some reason. No power at all. I don't really use DVDs at all, but it would be nice to have a fully functioning laptop just the same. Not sure if I want to try a different brand of RAM or keep what I have.
