I recently purchased an Asus U46E and installed a 240GB OCZ Agility 3 SSD in it. I downloaded all the drivers from the Asus website & did a completely fresh install of Win7 Ultimate. I really like this machine so much that I purchased another one for my wife to replace her ancient desktop box.
Upon setting everything up on both machines up, I noticed that both machines, although they are exactly identical, seem to have different touchpads...
Under devices on my machine it's showing a Synaptics PS/2 Port TouchPad and under devices on my wife's machine it's showing an Elan Smart touchpad...
Did Asus use different touchpads for the same machine?
The Synaptics has a lot more options and I'm wondering if I somehow installed different drivers on these identical machines that made this difference or is this really a hardware issue...

My U56E has the Elan. Is your Synaptics multitouch?
