I, like a lot of people am infuriated with the quality of sound from the w2. I am eagerly awaiting for some kind of update to fix the situation. I heard Justin say that he has had words with Asus over the state of the sound issue and that they acknowledged the problem and were seeking a solution. So far that is all i have heard on the problem. have asus made any kind of public announcement about the issue? I have seen nothing on their site to say that they even register a problem is there. Has justin had an update from asus with any idea of a release date?? sorry for the questions, im travelling around the states and its hard to keep updated on the situation when net access is sporadic.

    Cheers
    Jake

I could answer that a little more directly.... some people did find a new realtek driver, but that isn't going to do anything... all of the drivers Asus uses are then rewritten and tweaked for different reasons... so we need to wait on them.

So far they have been tight lipped about it and said Taiwan will get back to them when they finish it up....... but everything must run through Taiwan.

... they don't know anything yet and have more important things to worry about? I didn't mean that like it may have sounded... it's just not a biting issue at this point (they turned it over to Taiwan about a month ago or so), so till they hear back from them there's really nothing they can do.

I understand its not high on their priorities, but i wouldve thought they wouldve at least posted some kind of acknowledgement about the problem. Ahh well, i guess well just have to wait. Hopefully some good bluetooth headphones with mic come out in the meantime. Thanks for your replies Justin

No, that's not their style.... the system works, but not exactly how I know it should or Asus wants it to. So just like anything else there will be updates to drivers and bios' and so on.
