I own a 1 year old ASUS laptop and recently did a clean install using an OEM win 7 disc and noticed the battery now charges to 100% and continues to charge.

Before, with the factory install I'm almost positive the battery would reach charging at 98 or 99% before it stopped charging.

So my question is, was there some kind of utility installed by Asus that managed the battery from over charging? If so, is it available for download on their site?

    Thanks

It should stop charging at 100%, even after multiple clean installs, both my Asus stop at 100% then don't charge until the battery gets to 95%.

    good Question edm1820
I would not use it with the battery installed until this is resolved.

    What model do you have?
I am fairly sure if you call ASUS they will tell you to do a factory restore. I would try that first. When that does not fix it I would set up an RMA.
I am not aware of any utility that Asus supplies for this functionality.

    Hi there,
I find it very strange that this utility is so hard to find and basically ungoogleable. Of course there is a utility/driver that can fix overcharging problems. Me myself installed a clean version of Windows 7 directly when I got my laptop and then I found this utility from their website and it was all good. However, now I don't find it anymore of some reason when I put in my SSD.. First I thought that it was Asus AI Charger but,, that was not the case however.

I've e-mailed Asus but I got a very crappy answer. Will try it again, everybody can't be n00bs over there since they make good products so (at least at my liking..)

If I find it I'll tell you right away buddy.

This is not the first time I've come across this. I don't think the battery is defective, but haven't confirmed if this is an error in hardware reporting or if it's software related.
