What do you think is the likelihood that Asus will come out with an AMD X2 notebook in the future? It seems as if all the Ensemble models come with pentiums, as well as the majority of the built ons.

Asus seems to like intel chips better than amd. i cant blame them though since intel makes better laptop chips. They will have turion dual core models when that comes out but if you are talking Desktop X2 forget it probably never whats the point? to heavy might as well use a core duo chip its comes close to the perforance at a lower clock rate and you get a light machine and good battery life.

No no....sorry for the confusion. I meant the Turion X2. It's not really that I have a problem with Intel or anything. It is just that I am a huge fan of the stylishness of Asus's laptop designs, but was hoping to have both a 64-bit processor and a dual core. I guess that is just too much to ask.

There's also conjecture about whether the current Dual-Core processors are pin compatible with the future 64bit Memron chips. I've heard they are, although bus speeds differ. Thus, barring BIOS compatibility, it might be possible to upgrade current models to 64bit processors.

Concidering the core duo is actually a 64bit chip thats disabled. They will probably the same pins.

Ooooooo, an Asus with an Amd processor. Sounds awesome.

I really like the performance, power saving and temperatures of Intel's mobile processors though.

For PURE gaming performance I'd prefer AMD though.

    Cheers,
    Mike

I'm assuming that Asus would release dual-core/64-bit processor notebooks in winter 2006/2007?

Now that it looks like AMD is going to release their 64 bit X2 chips in May does this mean that I could expect to get an ASUS with one of these chips by, say, late July or early August?

My wife needs a laptop for school and I really want it to have a 64 bit chip.
