Hey everyone. Yesterday I went to best buy intending to buy the Asus G51VX-RX05 laptop. When I got their I saw the G71GX-RX05 next to it and for $150 more you get a faster processor, bigger HD, more RAM, and a bigger screen. I figured it was a great deal and wanted to purchase it however they were sold out. After getting home I googled the laptops some more and came across the GPU problems with both laptops. I mainly want a laptop to sit in bed and play World of Warcraft on max settings without any problems. I have a laptop fan that I could use and wouldn't mind purchasing a better one just to prevent the overheating, but I don't know if that will make a difference.

The point of this thread is asking for advice on what to do. I REALLY want the G71 because for the extra money you really are getting a significantly better computer, but I want to be able to play without these reported issues. Should I just wait it out, go with the G51 or what?

The G71 right now has an underclocked GPU which downclocks as soon as you hit 82C which will happen for any new game and probably for WoW too if you play it in a hot room for a long time.

I would not advise you to get it right now. You should wait until Asus has finished their downclocking issue. The G51 may have an overheating issue, but it isn't too clear so it probably won't hurt to wait a bit on it too.
