Hello everyone im having some problems with my new ASUS x50GL notebook (with nvidia 8200M). Now while doing normal things (listening to music, watching movies etc) the gpu remains at 47-48 degrees celsius, however when starting any game, regardless of grafics the temperature can reach up to 60 degrees which makes the whole keyboard hot, but thats not the problem - the problem is the fact that after several hours the computer simply resets (im using Windows XP with the latest drivers from asus.com). Some of my friends have sugested that the grafic board isnt to blame for the restarts, but in fact the RAM memory which may be faulty, so i wanted to know what do u guys think is the component that causes the resets?

If your GPU causes restarts at 60degrees then there is probably something wrong with it.

Are you sure the temperatures don't get higher after those few hours of gaming? They should get upwards of 90deg Celsius before the computer shuts down to void overheating. Also you may want to check other temperatures in your system, focusing on the CPU which can be another point of failure due to overheating. Use HWMonitor (google) to monitor your temps.

If you get very high temps then it may be time for you to clean the dust from the fan and vents. (see the Info Booth)

Otherwise, are you overclocking the GPU by any chance? You may want to run some GPU stability tests to identify whether indeed the GPU is the cause of the restarts.

One more thing, to check for RAM errors use memtest86+ (google for it)
