I cleaned out a tenant's room and found this laptop. It's remarkably light, and it looks okay. I couldn't find its charger. I wanted to see if there was anything on the hard drive. I took it out the laptop and put it in an external HD enclosure. It worked fine and there was a full OS on it.

I have a really old Asus laptop with its charger, but it didn't fit in this one.

Can I charge or power up this x540s without its own charger? I'm very untrusting of aftermarket chargers.

Seems like a pretty run of the mill charger to be honest, you should have no problem with an aftermarket as long as the pin/barrel configuration and wattage are the same.
