Does anyone have this problem. Everytime my computer goes to sleep under Windows XP, and it resumes the LCD panel contrast goes really high, colors are washed out. If I put it back to sleep or restart the computer the LCD contrast goes back to normal.
Its really weird, and I havn't come accross this problem in other forums or FAQs
Please help

That is a very odd issue... my best guess would relate to the graphics driver.
Perhaps a re-install or an update might help?
When I get my Z63a later on today, I'll check to see if the same thing happens. -
I installed the default drivers, and I installed the ones from the asus's site
Yeah, I'm just baffled -

What BIOS version are you using? The original BIOS for my W3A gave a washed-out display at maximum brightness, but an updated BIOS reduced the maximum brightness. The information about the latest BIOS for the Z63A states:
BIOS Ver.0503G
1. Update LCD Panel brightness setting
2. Update new Thermal Policy (0427)
3. Support new Winbond Flash
4. Flash Battery LED while in Low power state ( under 10% )
5. Remove bug system hangs in Battery calabration process sometimes
I would also check what Power4Gear is doing. I suggest going into each Power4Gear setting and put the brightness as you want it (although defining your brightness is not an option for AC power, P4G has some sort of memory).

thanks for the suggestion, but i don't currently run power4gear
and i do have the latest Bios
Coult that be the problem, not runing power4gear? -
How is the latest BIOS, by the way? Is the fan always on?

I believe so, you really can't hear it, and i think it depends on the teh setting you have, i'm not sure, havn't played around with it

The CPU is undervolted (0.70V min to 1.068V max) with the result that (a) it can take 20 to 30 minutes of light use from computer startup until the fan comes on; and (b) more than 5 minutes of 100% CPU load is required to reach the 60C threshold to trigger the fan speed increase from 1200RPM to 1600RPM.
Normally, my HDD is several degrees hotter than the CPU, although at this moment the temperature is the same.
