I just bought and assembled a z96js, t2400, 2gb ram, dvdrw, hd, intel abgcard.

when I plug in the power the lights blinks on for a sec, and turns off then reboots again. it keeps looping over and over again. Please help me out on this, this is driving me nuts........

There is no post or beeps, it just loops this 1 sec on and off, the power switch also does nothing.

With battery installed without AC power, it does the same, it does not loop the on off cycle, but just turns off in one second when I hit the power switch.

Does anything display on your LCD? If you can't even get into bios, your ram is probably dead.

I also had a similar problem on my old compaq presario 700 where it turned itself a few seconds into boot up. Reapplying thermal paste did the trick.

screen does not turn on, its just blank, does not even go into bios or anything, just sits there with lights on, then going off, then on, seems like its trying to turn on, but auto cuts off.

the ram is brand new 2 sticks ocz 5400 1gb each

Maybe your screen is dead? Try installing a newer BIOS version, see if that resolves anything. Maybe, even your Graphics unit is dead.

No. The unit powering on and then immediately off indicates that there is something not right about the core components of the system.

Did you take off the pink covers on the GPU RAM part of the heatsink?

Did you take off the foil cover on the GPU part of the heatsink?

Did you remove the paper cover off the CPU part of the heatsink?

When you installed the processor, did you the CPU retention screw turn 180 degrees fully and CLICK in place? It's happened to me a few times on some barebones where it was not fully into place. If it doesn't want to click, take out the CPU and exercise the screw, then try putting the CPU back in again.

Did you install all 7 screws of the heatsink assembly and tighten them all the way?

Did you plug in the heatsink assembly fan?

Those would be the major things which would cause something like that.

Yes on all the heatsink covers, i took them all off.

the cpu is seating right i believe, it is turned all the way , there is no click however, just gets really tight when i go all the way.

tried reseasting cpu many times, same result. tried putting all screws on also with heatsink.

    fan is connected.

just click on and off, no lcd no nothing

Try reseating your RAM or try booting up with just one of the sticks just in case one of the RAM sticks is bad

teh, can you figure out the problem after taking one stick memory? did you check the cpu pins whether any damage is there?
    Cheers

    Hi there

i tried using 1 stick of ram, same results each

there is no damage to the cpu pins

when the AC is plugged, the system does get warm, so i think power is going to the cpu. but the fan does not come on, instead the fan stutters to come on, but never spins, power just cuts off before it gets the chance to start

    did i just get a dead z96js?........
