I`m thinking of buying the new Asus zenbook ux501 and i would like to use it both for my projects and also, of course, to play some games on it. But after reading a few reviews, i found out that its 4K panel is a big problem if you want to play games (fps problem). Can someone recommend me a few other laptops like this Asus, with the same or better specs and SAME slim design? And also what is the solution if you choose to play games on a laptop with 4K display, just make the game settings lower?

You can change the resolution from 4k to 1080p (1920 x 1080). Remember though that yellows on that screen a problem: they look like mustard.

FPS problems would only arise due to how much harder the system has to work to drive a game at 4K - assuming the game supports 4K. It also depends on how demanding the game is overall. You can turn the resolution down, as mystery905 mentioned, but it won't look as good (both because of the detail 4K offers and because it won't be in its native resolution).

The N550JX is not as slim, nor does it have as good of a GPU, but is a good system worth considering also.

I own this laptop. Playing games at lower resolutions is no problem. Scaling at 1080p or even 2K is fine.

Another recommendation is the MSI GS60, and the Gigabyte P35W. For 14 inchers you can go for the P34W, or even the pricy Razer Blade (2015). Check out this NotebookCheck List for other suggestions, though some of their "slim" recommendations are >1 inch.
