Hey guys, I just recently purchased an ASUS Model U56E. As soon as I booted it straight from the box, I got a notification from the AI Recovery Burner, saying that I should create a backup of my factory settings right away. However, I didn't have any DVDs at the time and went ahead to go on and customize my computer with my own programs, downloading things, etc.
But now I finally have some blank DVDs, and a couple weeks later, am now ready to use the Burner. Are there any problems if I already have extra programs and stuff in addition to the factory defaults? If so how would it affect my backing up? Thanks for yours answers in advance.

TBH I don't think backing up your computer is worth it, If you have technical know-how and are able to backup your most important data on a external HDD and have access to a second computer and are able to install operating systems on whim then there is no need to back it up.
It would be most preferable to back up a clean installation because you could have possibly downloaded spyware/viruses and you would be backing those up, so If I were you I would clean install windows and then create a backup if you so choose. -
GiggityNinja , IF you open disk managment you should see a fairly large partition (mine was around 19 GIG). This is what will be backed up to DVD and will retrun your system to factory setup (handy if you go to sell it). The changes you made are to the C partition, not this one.
Alll that being said, I did what azn4lif3s said, create an image of the C to an external HDD if you want to save time reloading windows with all the changes you made. Since I have an SSD I deleted the 19 GIG recovery partition. -
Thank you azn4lif3s, and JOSEA, however I have one more question.
I have only had this computer for a week and it seems I already gotten a virus, probably from a CD containing files of a past computer that was infected. (sucks huh?) So now I need to figure out where to go from here. Will I be able to backup only my recovery partition or should I fear that they could be infected now.
Or should I just go to Bestbuy (The place I purchased it) and ask for their aide?
Right now I am not 100% sure that it is infected... however boot up time today was shockingly slow, and web pages would not load. All of it seemed to be related to Search engines, IE: Google. So now having cation I asked a friend how I could search to see if something was affecting me. He suggested RKILL which when ran and identified Google Chrome and a program listd as C:\Windows\SysWOW64\rundll32.exe as being affected.
So after searching the web a bit I found it maybe a "Hijack"
Where now do I go in terms of getting back to just the factory default settings? -
Sorry to here that , I would not go to BB yet. Download, install and update Malwarebytes free version
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com
Run it in safe mode.
Also follow this procedure How do I remove a computer virus?
and run this in safe mode (be sure to update it. )
If you are in normal windows - start IE with out add ons until this is fixed:
To determine whether the error is caused by an add-on, run Internet Explorer in "No Add-ons" mode. To do this, follow these steps:
"Click Start, and then type Internet Explorer in the Start Search box.
Click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons). Internet Explorer opens without add-ons, toolbars, or plug-ins. " From Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) Poor Performance at Start Due to Add-ons - Softpedia
