I got my Z96 in December 2006 and have always noticed 2 dead spots on the display. Any know what Asus' policy is on dead pixels?

First, you would need to know the policy of your dealer as Z series models are their warranty and theirs alone. With that said, our policy for our custom systems mirrors those of Asus', so below you'll see the two policies we have, with the bottom one in blue being what should be on your panel, but you'll need to contact your dealer to verify:

    LCD Pixel Policies:

Zero Bright Dot (ZBD) LCD Guarantee:

All Asus Ensemble systems are guaranteed not to have even one flaw in a single pixel (either dead or stuck). ZBD Guarantee is good for thirty (30) days from purchase date as invoiced. After which the regular LCD pixel policy goes into effect. RMA must be requested directly with Asus' notebook technical support or RMA service representative. Asus will send a shipping label for the notebook's return to them and will return it via FedEx 2Day service. Any claim after thirty (30) days will be treated as a regular RMA process and not giving the ZBD LCD panel exchange treatment. Anyone insisting on a ZBD LCD panel exchange after the first thirty (30) days will be charged a $50 service charge.

    Regular LCD Panel Warranty:

LCD panel will be replaced based on the guidelines below:
    1) Over 6 black dots or 8 mixed bright (stuck) and black (dead ) dots (pixels) in total.
    2) 2 adjacent bright dots or 2 adjacent black dots.
    3) 3 bright and / or black dots within an area of a 7.5mm
