Hi I just got an asus u43jc-x1 and I'm trying to find out how the nvidia optimus thing works. I really want to know which graphics card is being used. I looked up vidoes about it online:
The NVIDIA Blog - Take a Look: New Optimus Interface

and for some reason my user interface doesn't have the options to show the notification under the view tab. Do I need to update the drive or something?? I believe I have the newest update and nvidia driver.

I am using the 258.96 driver and it has the menu item described in the video (download direct from NVidia, not the Asus site)... works great

I'm using the 257.37 driver. How did you update the driver from Nvidia? It doesn't let me do it, it tells me that i have update it from Asus site.

Go to NVidia site, select 'download drivers'. In the pull down menu's, select: GeForce, GeForce 300M Series (notebook), GeForce 310M, Windows 7 64 Bit (assuming that is what you are using) and click on Search. This will bring up the latest driver (currently 258.96)... download, install, and enjoy!

Doesn't work. When I try to install it, a pop up shows up and says that Nvidia setup program cannot locate any driver compatible with your current hardware.
