As everyone knows, Z84j Is a barebone. I first installed a Atheros card EX version to my system. I updated all the latest driver . The problem is , when my connection is on screen saver or idle for 10 to 15 mins, it will disconnect. "Disconnect" i mean here is you can still see the wireless card icon connected to the network along with signal bar but when I try to get on website, it won't connect either. I have to disable and enable it to make it work.

Yesterday, I got a new card which is the EGS version, it seems to work, but it has the same problem as the previous one.

Interestingly, I swap my Intel 3945 card from Toshiba to my Asus, it work flawlessly for days without disconnect or wake up after screensaver or Idle. The Atheros works great on the Toshiba's for days too. That's so weird.

    So my question is:
Does anyone experiencing this problem? is there any fix for this issue?

Is is a motherboard's Bios problem?

I checked the Asus site not so long ago and There is pretty much no new updates for this system. ( Z84j just realeased after CES on January)

It could have been a hickup with the Atheros card, put it back into the Z78j and then see if it continues to drop.

Then leave it in, if the problem continues, turn off the notebook for 10 minutes, come back and turn it back on, and check the wireless, if it is working properly.

If not, try a total power cycle of the modem, router, and laptop (restart), and then attempt to connect the Atheros card. If the problems continues post here, and we (forum) can help with this.
