I just recently used the Audio DJ feature of my w3v and I'm curious as to how it works.

How is it programmed into the laptop?
Where does the Audio DJ program reside?
    etc.

If anyone can direct me to a paper or webpage that deals with the intricacies of the Audio DJ feature I'd really appreciate it.

I would also appreciate any technical knowledge of this feature.

I was looking at the responses to my old thread ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=33537) and it seems to make sense that it is some sort of BSD/Linux variant because it takes awhile to play the cd from the moment I hit the Audio DJ button to when the music starts playing (the wait time almost corresponds to the initial boot sequence)

If this is the case, is the Audio DJ built into the bios/hdd/some flash memory in the laptop? Speculations are welcome ^_^ My HDD led flashes when the CD is playing but could it be due to the the devices sharing the same IDE channel?

I'd also want to figure out if the LCD can be turned on with the Audio DJ (still have to figure this out but right now, it seems that mechanism or pathway that occurs when the ADJ button is pressed seems to not be linked to the LCD screen.

    pure speculation:

on the sony clie' palm handhelds they allowed the device to play mp3's without the system operating. they did this by using a stand alone chip to do the encoding and audio amplification. this allowed a sony clie to play mp3's for around 70 hours! far longer than the usual + - 7 hours you get from a pocket PC /Palm.

thats what I would put my money on. The delay I would guess is the anti-shock like on a disc-man takes a while to buffer the first 60 seconds or so, (anyone remember what a discman is :p )

    insane

Hi guys! I need some help here. How do I use the 'Music DJ' function? When I hit the 'Music DJ' on my recently puchased A7J, it just boot into Windows XP. Am I missing out on something here? :(

    Thanks!

    Hey Spango.

The laptop is turned off right? Usually you hit the one of the multimedia keys (the one that has the icon of a cd) while the laptop is turned off.

    Hi,

Yup! My notebook is turned off. When I hit the 'Music DJ' button, it just boots up as per normal (although I don't hear the Asus bootup sound) and I end up at the login page of Windows... Strange...
