    Hi all,

Audio has stopped working on my UX31.

I've reinstalled intel and realtek audio drivers with no effect and tried an earlier windows restore point. I can see the audio bar moving in the audio mixer but no sound through the speakers or headphones.

USB port on the left beside the headphone jack look a little bent inside and I'm worried this is a hardware rather than a software problem.

Can anybody talk me through this?

Nearly a hundred views, no replies. Any help here would be great. I don't really want to ship my lappy back to asus for a month or two!

If drivers and system restore did not fix this, it's likely a hardware issue. You could try a full reinstall of windows, but i doubt it'll do any good.

Oh dear, I was hoping that wouldn't be the reply! I'll try a reinstall. Thanks

It was the usb port, it looks crooked inside the port. When I push downwards on a usb pen inserted into it, the speakers start working.

Not much you can do if the port is physically damaged. Either a new USB port will need soldered or the board will need replaced.

Same here. Left USB not working + sound device not found.

However there is one difference: It just came back from being repaired. for the 3rd time....
