I've had my Z70v for several days. So far, it's been fantastic. However, I was testing the audio capabilities as part of the review I'm writing and I found an "imbalance" with the speakers. Every time I play back a DVD, CD, MPEG video, or any audio-related file, the sound is noticeably stronger from the right speakers. I've tried every adjustment I could think of, but nothing has worked to balance the sound evenly between the left and right speakers. Could this be a defect? Has anyone else had a similar problem with the Z70v?

I can't say I've seen that out of the M6's ever..... but one of the speakers might be bad.

UGH! I don't suppose the speakers are user-replaceable, huh? I contacted Rick at ISTNC. He's looking into the problem for me. I'd hate to have to send it back for service.

No, it's not something I'd suggest you do by yourself. Can you tell which of the four speakers seem to be doing this? Also, is there a problem with audio in everything or just certain things?

    Thanks,

Those speakers are weak anyway... I wonder if it's a real problem or not. If it were the speaker itself and you wanted to fix it, I've got tons of those speakers I could just send you.

(for everyone else that's not an invitation to request free stuff from me)

    Thanks,

Yeah, I'd just make it worse if I tried to fix it. I did a little more testing on my Z70v's speakers. The problem is definitely located in the speaker in the lower left side of the screen. I'm guessing that I'll have to return it to ISTNC for service. [ :(]

Damn, Justin, you rock! I didn't even buy my Z70v from you. I gave you a plug in my review (along with Eddie at G2P) because I don't think you can go wrong with any of you guys when it comes to Asus. I chose ISTNC simply 'cuz a friend bought his M3Ne from them, last year.

Is tha kind of speaker a replacement a difficult procedure? Would my warranty get whacked if I did it? I'm also wondering if it's even worth the trouble to worry about. Everything else on my Z70v is immaculate.

And, for those chomping at the bit for my review, it'll be done soon. A sudden major project at work is taking up my time, at the moment.

No problem.... certain things like that seem to back up and if it was as simple as that..... sometimes those go.... usually not when they are new, so I don't suggest it.. but it's not that bad to replace. You just have to take off the bezel.

I wouldn't suggest you do it, because personally I wouldn't want a customer screwing around with the system like that where they may potentially break something else..... but it's not hard, but again, I just wouldn't suggest it.. it's under warranty, if it's a real problem, they'll fix it.

    Thanks,
    Justin

It was a speaker, not a subwoofer.

I see.. I see... other people read this and just email me their address and tell me they need something and expect me to just send it. Stuff like that I don't mind doing for certain people, on certain things... but when I have to physically take an evelope to the post office and make out an address on the envelope.... I don't have time for that stuff..... but I also can't find it to waste time to put an item up on the site for $5 and waste the time to ship it FedEx which will cost more than the part... But there's a limit on how many $5 parts I can just eat out of my own pocket..... You'd be surprised at how many people read these threads and how many people seem to lose the same feet, or covers.....

    Thanks,
    Justin
