Just out of curiosity what are the average temps ppl are registering on different asus models just to give a comparision.

I have a z70v and its average cpu temp is about 61 and hd (60gb 7200) is 47c

I'd say on average..... normal use temps for a cpu run anywhere around double room temperature give or take. Under hard use, you could exceed that, but keep in mind before the cpu comes anywhere near the point of burnout... the system shuts down... so it's almost not even a point of concern.

    Thanks,

53c?!? Wow... mine hasnt even came close to that at idle... sad... i though the z70 would be a colder running machine... guess not... this i sugess is supposed "normal" temps but it reaching 87 when playing cs... and 60c on normal usage... i had though this would have been cooler than the w3v as heat was one of the reasons i didnt get that notebook... ironic... hope this is only a software issue and heat will go down after a fresh install...

Remember, the probe you're using might not be 100% accurate. I am using Asus Probe, and mine reads between 40-50 C when being normally used. Maybe I'll chalk that up to Arctic Silver 5 (just to get Justin's goat [ ;)] )

which asus probe is the one for z70...?? someone posted a site that had all the probes but im not sure which version is correct... i have artic silver on this thing (i havent checked though) and it still is creating a lot of heat... even if the probe is wrong the heat coming off the thing is very annoying... anyway ill try reinstall and see if it reduces heat...

Go to the Asus website and then the downloads page. You can choose your notebook model from a drop-down menu. You might need to choose the M6 (I had to choose the W3A since the Z63A isn’t listed yet). Anyway, it will have the Asus Probe Utility there.

I wouldn’t worry about the Arctic Silver – I’m sure it’s there, and if not, it won’t make a difference. I would highly recommend you NOT pull off the CPU to check – it’s not worth it.

yeah, that's similar to what i have seen mine have... and the fan blows out HOT air. Have a utility to make sure the exhaust fan is working at max RPMS?
