    Hey guys,
I just got my C90s all setup, happy with drivers and everything good to go. However I've noticed my e6600 runs rather warm...especially when in Overclocking Mode. It hits 83C on both cores...for this CPU, thats extraordinarily HOT. I can live without Overclocking Mode...but maybe just Gaming? Hell, even at stock it runs 65 ~ 70C Idle // Typing on MSN or whatever. I've never seen load for stock but its up there. Anyone have any suggestions or what does your C90s run at?

mine's weird, sometimes it'll run at 35-40C idle, and I'll restart and then it's running at 65C, but yeah, those are my normal temps. right now it is at 40C and it's been on for...over a day. Where did you get the system at? did you assemble it yourself? did you, or the person putting it together use any thermal paste, preferably artic silver?

idle er 42c with my cooling pad, load with max OC is around 78c.

everthing effects the temps in a c90, from the heat levels of there components like the video card, to the current cpu load.

Its actually very possible to have a cooler cpu while overclocked or high load than just a normal load just because the fans will kick on.

What cooling pad would you guys recommend? I bought all of my parts from eWiz.com except for my CPU. I've been building desktops since who knows when, as well as water cooling and so forth so. I just re-applied the AS5 more evenly than before. So, I hope that helps :D

However, I would go for a cooling pad seeing as I game a lot.

I have the ever so popular zalmans nc-1000 there are probably other pads out there that cool just as good or better for less but I liked it so much I had to have it (solid black, nice tilt, super high build quality, even air flow ect)

Yea right now my C90S is running at 81 - 91 degrees celsius and I have a feeling that this is kinda dangerous to the actual hardware. Only i can't figure out why its so amazingly high.

My C90 usually runs at 60-65C and since I can't overclock, I dunno how high it can go!

This is for CPU or GPU ???? If its for CPU, yeah. thinks that's too hot.... My E6320 runs 52-55 idle and 78 max at full load.

My C90S's E6700 runs at @ 53 deg C at light load, with a SpeedStep enabled linux kernel, with ondemand cpu frequency settings, so unless it's being used, it's running at 1.6GHz, and while it's being used it bumps up to normal E6700 clocks. I don't have any temp data for overclocks, though.

    Shpongled:
Your temps are very warm. Is your OS Intel SpeedStep aware? Did you apply the thermal paste yourself? If so, you, uh, might have done a shoddy job. :p

I, uh, did not apply it myself. The people at GentechPC did. The C90S have rave reviews, everyone recommended GentechPC to buy from, and ASUS is a reputable company, so I don't understand why I got the ****ty lemon.

My E4500 is 67 under load with very quiet fans, and the GPU wich is not even an inches far is at 112C

And it running cool is a bad thing with for my GPU =/

Hmm, I think I'm around like...42-52 idle and 52-58 under load w/cooling pad. I dust the thing regularly and man does it collect a lot of dust. GPU has yet to ever break 58 as well.

It seems that C90 stabilizes over time.. my first temperatures were 60c 100g degrees, but after two months I am getting 50c and 70gpu.. under pressure it rises to 90.

I've never even seen my GPU below the 70s. I'm with JCMS. DesignerFX is clearly walking around with a tank full of liquid nitrogen attached to his TurboEngine heatsinks...

With the 169.21 drivers, my GPU stays at 513/400 in idle + AC, power saver mode.... anyone same?

Thats pretty evil. I'll have to install ntune and force it to 140/100 now...

Without a cooler, my GPU temp while browsing ( and idle ) normally cools down to about 65-68degC, with 169.04 drivers. The powermiser downclocks the GPU to 168/100 when not under load.

I have been told by Ken from GenTechPC that the 8600m GTs for the C90S usually run at around 85 celsius. Can anyone confirm this?

Yes, and can go up up 100+ when benchmarking, this is the GDDR3 card with stock driver, too bad that it only performs best with Asus stock driver, the modded driver from laptopvideo2go.com will change clock speed to 168/100 when system is idle to help cool down the GPU, but unfortunately if you install the drivers from laptopvideo2go.com on GDDR3 card the performance will drop about 40%:

When you first boot up the unit the GPU temperature is at 60 degrees and the temperature will start to go up to 80~85 degrees.

I've forward everything you guys complaint about C90S to Asus since the begining like RAM compatibility, video card drivers, GPU temperatures, wireless issue on battery mode..ect,. I did get beta BIOS in the past and posted on the forum (2AM PST on July 14th and that was Friday night: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=141730&highlight=C90S+bios+704) the wireless issue and RAM compatible problem can be easily fixed with updated BIOS, the video driver from their response as of Dec. 20th is "they are still working on it"

The webcam driver issue, I received the latest driver from Asus and posted on the forum here:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=192998&highlight=new+c90s+camera+driver
They still haven't update on the C90S driver download page and we have to host the driver for them.

And right now, we still only have official BIOS is 801 that's it, no more updates from Asus.

Believe me, we already tried our best to support.

at the moment there are only 2 major issues that are plaguing c90s. both are inherent to most c90s but not all
    1. wifi issue. can cause only the wifi to malfunction when on battery. can also cause all sys tray process to shut down when ac is disconnected
    2. camera issue. it may be driver related however i think it is a 2 fold issue. replacing the camera right away fixed the issue where the camera does not display anything but can take a snap shot. at the moment asus has been aware of both issues for over a month (actually 2 months now). by law they have 90 to rectify or repair a notebook or up to 3 times to fix a notebook. after that they are liable to issue a full refund for the notebook or replace with another. it is part of the lemon law. i think everyone who is affected by these issues should address them with asus as we the dealers are powerless to fix them. i dont know if a bios update will fix either i doubt it. I feel this issue is in part related to the problem people encounter when the notebook freezes on battery when "incompatible" ram is used. Long story short c90s like the last 2 popular 15.4" barebones "z70va and z71v" turned out to be a perfect lemon. Ken is right we did try our best. We reported the issues and the symptoms to them. The sad part is that these issues are not identical in every c90s. they are generally similar but not always the same. some 4965 wifi cards work better then others and they all work perfectly in any other notebook. atm asus is not treating this seriously as i got a reply from them asking to try a recent driver revision from intel for the wifi card. i did not try it and i seriously doubt intel is addresssing the issue becuase there is absolutely nothing wrong with the wifi card. currently we are only allowing 3945 for the c90s as is ken. even if 4965 wifi was available in the channel we still would not offer it for the c90s

Is the high temperature standard on all laptops with the 8600M GT, or just with the C90S?

so far the G1's and the c90's show unusally high temps for the 8600M GT. I have read some forums on Dell inspirons, and their GPU temps are roughly on the 60-70d C range, even after overclocks. ( which also makes me wonder... )

and bummer.... as what eddie and ken stated above, im starting to feel maybe i bought the wrong notebook... lol. Lets just hope we could all still expect decent support from ASUS. Coz right now, it really feels like ASUS was aware of its problems, but they decide to release it anyway, and hope that we all shut up out of frustration from asking and bugging them.

Hmm no, except if it runs at like 110C all the time.

Asus said it was 100% safe until 100C. It can stand high temperatures. The desktop 8600GT are running at about 85C under load (at least mine)

Mine has different mood but the temp ranges from 72-115C

heh tough crowd....the 169.28 driver seems to work great so far. My idle temp is now at 79 - 85n as opposed to before when it was at 95. I still get flicker at around 88 when doing something graphic intensive. But the weird thing is the fans kick in more when I play BF2 than when I run Milkdrop in Winamp, so I get higher temps with Winamp and the the flicker appears...

Now if only I could get the fans to kick in at lower temps....

Anyone try this SmartDoctor / cooling program?
