Guess what alfredo, the "manufacturer data" that you don't want to trust is much better to look at. With a Centrino system not only will you have differences between configurations, but also simply between settings and users...... The averages are real averages for "normal" use. All of Asus' systems except for the G1 in my opinion, after at a minimum above average life per mAh of the battery. So basically the data you're going to get from users on this forum is just going to leave you with no better real world understanding.... trust me. All of our systems over the years have averaged a good 30-40 minutes per cell... most systems have an 8 cell, some have a 6, some have optional 9 cells... but you get the picture. I've see at much as 45 minutes per cell if you really know how to tweak things, and as low as 20 minutes if you max everything out.

I have an Asus V1JP, 77whr battery, with these conditions, Wifi on, 20% brightness, doing light tasks and web browsing, my consumption rate is roughly 23watts per hour, giving me a grand total of 3 hours, max.

I plan on getting the modular bay battery for my multibay, it is rated at 44whr, meaning roughly 1 hour and 20 minutes of battery life, based on my numbers.

You can check out my review in my signature, it explains exactly how I use my notebook.

I am also curious as to what kind of notebook are you looking for? Ones with dedicated GPU's or without?

    Thanks,
