As we all know, the BB resolutions of the G51 and G71s are a lot different from their XoticPC, Gentech etc counter parts.

I was wondering, is this a huge deal? If someone could give me a metaphor on the difference between a 1440x900 vs X, it would be excellent.

In short, is the resolution a huge deciding factor in why the BB versions are so cheap? Is $500 worth a much better resolution?

Will the resolutions, processor, ram etc of a Reseller's G51/G71 vs BB G51/G71s have a huge determinance on the livespan?

Actually, most people don't like to admit it but the only reason for people wanting higher resolutions is if they pop in HD content (HD videos, Bluray player, etc.) In all honesty, the lower resolution BENEFIT's your gaming, if you want to pump up your games settings to the max and want good frames, most people either overclock or (here it comes) lower the resolution. In actuality, I tone down my resolution on alot of my games if I want to max out my settings and more frames and merely turn up my AA on my game (or force it via Nvidia Control Panel), which kills some of the shimmering/jaggies.

So in other words, the resolution doesn't matter much and the G71 at the best buy is a better deal (performance and price ratio is great!) With the resolution as it is, it actually helps you achieve better frames than higher resolution can give it. If anything, if you want a better resolution, you can merely hook up the BB G71 to your HDTV ;)!

Oh and the resolution of the computer does warrant a lower/higher price...

Well I'm off to college in Illinois, and I need something really durable for those cold winters. From the sounds of it, the G71 is looking good, but I am tempted to spend that little extra for the G51 at xoticpc.com

Either screen is considered HD quality as even the G51 is considered 720p and with how little the screens are you would be very hard pressed to see a noticable difference when watching a High Def BluRay.

Like most things people are WOW'd by numbers as bigger must mean better, but its not necessarily true.

There are a few more differences (besides just the screen) between the BB model and the version that Xotic PC offers. I've copied one of my posts from another thread here

I understand that you're trying to sell your product, but you really should include the price difference of the two models in your comparison.

The price difference between the reseller version and BB version is $589 - tax.

I should also mention that the BB version also has the "Windows Vista Home Premium 64-Bit + Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade"
