I've been paying attention to BB waiting for an ASUS to go on deal. I noticed Saturday that most of the notebooks were gone from thier website and the few that were left said online purchase only. So today I went to BB and the guy there told me that they were all pulled but one and they didn't give him any notice or reason why they were pulling them. Anyone have any idea?

As a guess, probably not selling well - the American public has heard of HP, Dell, Gateway and Sony but hasn't a clue who Asus is and they tend to mostly buy what is pushed on them with advertising. How many times have you seen the G1/G2 in BB's Sunday ads, compared to the other manufacturers, in the past 6 months? And, many people get them confused with Acer and the icky quality that is found in many models from that brand.

I was thinking clearance too. The guy I talked to said I couldn't get it from there. I asked where the units were. Make sure you let me know if you find out otherwise.

When I first started talking to him, he thought I said Acer. Acer was the first computer I bought in 1995 or 96. POS! $1700 for a 133 mhz POS.

Best Buy selling Asus was a test run. Not all stores carried them in the first place. Sales were poor as the large majority of people buying notebooks from Best Buy are looking for something under $1000, and only for basic use.

Quite possibly Asus might have pulled this as well, the warranty issue wasn't to the buyer's favor and most opted getting the Asus 2 Year warranty & 1 Year Accidental warranty by buying elsewhere other than Best Buy instead.

The other reason might be as simple as a stock refresh? Since new Penryn systems are around the corner, Best Buy simply might have returned their stock in exchange for newer models which are obviously not in supply yet. So I would say it's unconfirmed until all Asus products are completely pulled from the shelves. They are still stocking(online) on the EEEPC and the R2H.
