so many kinds... i've checked out vantec's lapcool 4 and zalman's ZM-NC1000... i cant decide. the zalman looks cleaner and thinner however not as portable.

which has better cooling power, and which is better suited for the asus w2p ? any other options ?

will a docking station get in the way, and which is the best docking station for the w2p in terms of multimedia?

I dont think youll need a notebook cooler at all. Wait until you see its actually hot.

Asus is not like the other brands it is usually cool by itself.

i'm rather concerned with the use of notebook coolers.... would they be pushing dust into the fans of your laptop at a higher rate, thus in the long run, making them hotter?

i read a few reviews which stated that the w2p is actually fairly hot. i havent seen the notebook in person yet, however am wondering about which COOLERS best fit the parts that need cooling the most.

I have a W2P (wuxga version). I use the lapinator (you can google it). This is a passive system & it works well....I like the fact that the lapinator is very light & rigid. I also have the Ixoft...which is better at cooling than the lapinator, but isn't as comfortable as it isn't rigid (I use it when I'm travelling)...I'm not sure how usefull a fan based cooling pad is, as the W2's inlet & exhaust ports are on the side not underneath. Whilst the exhaust air is definately warm, the laptop itself never really gets hot.....you could definately get away with not using a cooling pad

The W2P runs at quite high temperatures: my CPU never falls below 50c, except on the coldest days, notwithstanding that it runs at 0.950v. However, the chassis is almost never above ambient temperature. The only part of the chassis that you will find to warm is the section to the right of the touchpad, below which is the hard drive. I can only recall it being noticeably warmer in summer, and during sustained disk transfers.

I do not think that you will need a cooler, and I do not think, at any rate, that it would be particularly effective. The W2P is a large laptop and I expect that you rarely use it other than on a table. On a table, its four feet will give sufficient clearance to allow air to flow underneath.

so you undervolted to .95v correct ? how about multipliers? can you explain to me about how multipliers work and suggest a good undervolting program for my t7200 which does both cores ?

    Use RMClock.

The multiplier is that multiple of the FSB that the CPU operates at. For example, the FSB is 167 MHz and, at its maximum speed, a T7200 operates at 2 GHz. The multiplier at maximum speed is therefore 12.

I use 0.950v for every multiple under 12. I need 0.962v for stability at 12.

does RMClock handle both cores ? so i should be using 12 as the multiplier correct ?

hmm, but if u used a can of compressed air to blow it, wouldnt it blow the dust inside your laptop? wont they get stuck there?
