Before I begin I just want to stress that you should NOT take this exchange as a representation of Proportable.com or its capabilities and overall quality. This is just a copy of the exchange I had with the proportable sales manager: SEAN

And Justin please dont look at this as a stab at you or your company I really just want people to see what a creep this Sean guy was to me earlier today. In fact I haven’t been around this site for long but I've only read excellent things about Proportable.com. In fact everyone who comments on proportable sees them as a fantastic place to buy your next machine, particularly the latest and greatest asus models. The president Justin has been nothing but kind and helpful in a variety of threads that I've encountered and I was really looking forward to picking up the R2H as soon as possible from the site.

I'm not trying to even say here that I'm some kind of knight in shining armor or anything but I just felt really annoyed at Sean's disposition. I also admit at a certain point I was intentionally pressing Sean on some level hopefully to bug him a bit and test his professional composure. I really began this conversation with the best of intentions but the vibe presented was very unprofessional. I didn’t really feel I was being too foolish initially with my questions, all I really wanted to do was double check with a live sales rep so I can be clear on what the business deal is going to be. The point is that Sean is an unprofessional creep, no matter how stupid a potential client might be a good company should never compose themselves in such a stuck up condescending manner. I certainly don’t think I was out of line early in this exchange.

Again, this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t buy at proportable.com. If anything I’d recommend it, I just need to get this out there for people to see that Sean’s professionalism wont exist in an isolated vacuum.

If you want to talk to sean he should be at the aol im: PROPortableSales

Not sure if this even belongs here, since this was a private conversation I would assume. Best to actually contact Justin about it, instead of posting here.

The conversation kinda confused me really.

As a general rule of thumb, sellers shouldn't treat customers like they're idiots.
If someone's being difficult or trying to scam the company, that's one thing ... but a genuinely interested customer should be treated with respect. Even if they're confused or are missing something that feels kind of obvious to you.

I work at a pharmacy. I deal with grumpy old people without their medication on a daily basis. You just have to have patience with people if you're involved in retail.

Well my goal was to expose this person on some level, I know its a bit drawn out but this is my experience dealing with the sales rep. Im sure Justin will see it here. I can edit it down if you want but I didnt want people thinking I was selectively painting a person in any sort of biased way.

Ahhh, the wonders of the Internet....

I find it very inappropriate that you posted a private conversation here instead of going up the chain in the proper manner in an attempt to get a reolution first.

    RC,

Now, I'm going to post the same thing over on the tablet side since I see you posted it twice. Sales has no part in any member program or promotion I run with the forum and this information isn't generally given out either. If you're a forum member and read the sticky post about the program and qualify for it, you can claim it. All of that information though is found in that post and anything that is unclear should be taken up with me directly. Sean is not only our sales manager but as my brother and in more than five years of him working with us this won't only be the polar opposite of everything anyone's ever said about him, but completely out of character. I've already spoken to him about it and read through the actual IM window. Now, instead of getting upset, you can contact me directly and pose any questions of concerns directly to me.

can i know the reason why?

i don't see what the fuss is about. a customer had a complaint about an employee of a retailer/resseller . personal conversation or not, i would think the customer has a right to voice concerns/complaints even transcipts of conversation in an open forum or public. i really doubt you people would get your panties in a bunch if it was.. say bob at bestbuy or frank at dell instead of sean at proportable. no way, you people would say ya, you got shafted, go back an complain etc.. etc.. no retailer should ever get preferential treatment on an open forum unless they either own, have an agreement or something of that sort like howardforums, and even then, its a horrible. now i'm not attacking anyone, i just see this is special treatment.. but if this is the way its going down... than i wil lbe expecting mods to kill any bashing of any retailers/resellers and or their employees, can't be nitpicking.

proportable has a great reputation, justin is a class act.... the thread will not hurt their reupation also the thread starter explicitely states his position and is not attacking the company. I feel everyone has a right to see what the convo was. also, you can call me the devils advocate.

just remembered, this is a privately owned forum. mods/admins, you don't have to answer me. i don't mean to offend anyone. with that being said, i come from a larger forum where it treats an user a an individual with some rights and a slight sense of democracy. just to give you a sense of where im coming from.

This forum, above all else, should be an advocate for the truth. Was the posted conversation complete? Was it unedited? I am not sure how these issues could be resolved and a conversation like this should only be made public if it can be substantiated. If this is possible (not sure how) then the forum should allow its posting. The deleting of a post like this is bothersome on many levels.

Let me put it this way, I was brought in after lunch and shown the IM window still open. The only reason the thread wasn't completely deleted was because the moderators nor I wanted to make it seem like there was any impropriety there in terms of me trying to get them to hide something. It's in poor taste to copy and paste any private correspondence, but it's not illegal or anything. However, it's very easy to make things seem a certain way when you present it in a break down like as with an im converastaion. The only problem with that is that I've made up fake forwards and im converations to get back at friends and enemies since I was a teenager. Coming into the forum and sharing his story is one thing, but creating an entire book makes it seem as though it must have happened exactly that way (I think we've gone to war over less). However, to keep the realistic value, one side wasn't all crisp and clean and completely obvious, which is a nice touch, but I think even with that it at least shows the jist of what happened and the type of person we're dealing with.

Anyone with experience with Sean certainly should voice their interactions with him in this thread.

    PROPortableCEO (4:05:15 PM): hello
Bill Gates (4:06:56 PM): Hi Justin, how are you my good friend?
PROPortableCEO (4:07:32 PM): i'm great billy boy
Bill Gates (4:07:45 PM): That's wonderful to hear!

I have converations with santa clause, jesus and george bush... if you'd like to see them. ;)

Does Proportable.com have a genuine concern for the elderly? Do you provide senior discounts?

I haven't seen the original conversation but I'll be the first to let y'all know that I've spoken to Justin and Sean both numerous times in my search for a computer [got a W7J and love it :) ] and never ONCE had anything to complain about!
I'm not saying it can't happen but it never happened to me and I can probably reproduce some old email conversations with Sean without and prove that he nothing less polite and professional.

And in case it matters - I did not buy my computer from them because I wanted it customized.

I just spoke with Sean again and he said he'd never had as many IM's in a week as he got this afternoon. All I can say is that apparently putting his SN up on the boards gave members another way of contacting him and they certainly did. I'm not sure if they're going to post about their "experience", but he said he couldn't take any phone calls all afternoon, he was so busy.

Oh, just a note, Sean is the rep most likely manning the livechat account... That's always fun if you haven't tried that service yet.
