    Hello guys
    I have a BIG problem !
I have send a mail to the Asus Service, i asked if the temperatures in my G1S are normal (My GPU is like 93°C under full load)

    They answered me:

    Asus holland b.v

    kind regards

    .....
What should i do now
Everybody who has an Asus G1S has such high GPU temperatures, isn't that right?

    Thanks for your advice :)

That is odd, I called Asus when I got mine any they told me that under 110 was 'safe'

    Hmm...

Using Rivatuner, I'm getting temps of around 65*C, but I've got mine sitting on two 120mm fans (see sig :p). I used to hover around 100*C when playing games :|

Are you using anything to cool your laptop?

No i don't use a notebook cooler, but yesterday i have ordered the zalman notebook cooler...
I must arrive next week (i have ordered the black one, because the G1S is black :p ) and they only had the silver one in stock.

Now i don't know what to do, send it to asus or just do nothing and use my zalman cooler... :(

I realized that it maybe was better to post it in the Asus forum (here are more G1S users)

I am just going crazy, sorry

And the reply function of the mail from asus doesn't work, aaaarg

I don't see why you should do anything. Those temps are perfectly normal. Even good as a lot of people seem to go over 100 when gaming for the GPU.
    Look all over the internet.
Bad luck, you probably ended up talking to one of the member of the support that was no expert or misunderstood your question. It wouldn't be surprising.

Maybe if would be interesting to ask again later (or to another ASUS country support) and see if they give twice the same answer :D

Also like Liquid Steel says: "That is odd, I called Asus when I got mine any they told me that under 110 was 'safe' "

    So they give different answers...

The reply function of asus works again, i have send a mail back.
Let's see what they will answer

It would be also clever to maybe ask if you guys are measuring the temperature...
They are maybe refering to something else that a Rivetuner temp or NVidia monitor temp (like the temp of the exhausted air or something like that)

I use Rivatuner. I compared the numbers in it with a few other programs, and the numbers found in Rivatuner were the most common amongst the programs. I uninstalled the others, I keep a clean install :p

I left my computer running for the past few hours, wireless on, just music playing. In my room, which is a fridgid 17*C, the GPU core was sitting at 56*C after two hours. It did have the fans running over it, though.

I wouldn't worry about it. Toss it on your cooler, take the tape out of the vents, and enjoy your computer. It is perfectly fine.

What do you mean with take "the tape out of the vents" ?
I saw something on the asus forum: a tape that shouldn't be there and people who took them away had a temperature decrease.
    Is it that? :p

And where exactly is that tape located?

Take the three plastic panels off the bottom (hard drive, memory/wireless, and gpu/proc). There is some black tape covering the vent holes. I took mine off since I always have it on a fan. There are some cases when the overall temps increase after removing the obstruction, so keep an eye on it for a few days to make sure it isn't detrimental.

I dropped five or so degrees after taking the tape out, and the hard drive dropped almost fifteeen. It was a very noticable improvement for me. Again, though, I have some big-ass fans, so your mileage may vary.

check the hd temperature if you remove the tape..
i tried...and the hd was getting hotter...I sometimes flirted with 52 degres (not far away for the 55 that hitachi recommend not to cross)

so i reinstall the tape...there are not here without reason...there here to create a cooling air flow...

different story if you use a notebook cooler though

I just did this to :)
My laptop is still on (started it up like 7 hours ago) i have also gamed and now my temperature is 62°C (I'm surfing, listening to music, chatting,...) WITHOUT a notebook cooler so WITH cooler (it will arrive next week) i need to have the same temperature as yours :)

If your Zalman gets you the same temps, I'm gonna be pissed! I spent so long making my cooler, haha.

Watch the HD temp, though, as others have said. I use HDTune to monitor it, requires no installation if you download the .zip version.

What is a normal temperature for the HD?
I just downloaded HD tune and it's 42°C on this moment. (I think this is a normal temperature? :) )

EDIT: Btw my GPU is 62°C on this moment (while listening to music, surfing, ...)
= exact the same as on hour ago :p

The highest I've sen my HD is 57, while watching a movie in bed.

I'm sitting at 42*c as well. There is only so much ventilation that HD can get.

I truly believe the tapes SHOULD NOT BE REMOVED!

They are there for a purpose, which is to vacuum the air flow from the hard disk compartment to the memory compartment and finally to the CPU going out the vent, so if you remove the tapes, the airflow will not reach all of the aforementioned compartments.

In other words, the only fan in the G1s is located on the vent (near the CPU/GPU heatsinks) which blows air out of the notebook creating a vacuum, which pulls air in, starting from the Hard Disk compartment and flowing all the way through the notebook and out the aforementioned vent.

    Cheers!

Acoording to Hitachi (if you have the 5400 RPM)...over 55 degres and you start
corrupting data....55 is the max operational temp.

This morning i had a new mail from Asus :)

    Geachte heer/mevrouw,

    ASUS@TSD

    Translated:
    Dear lord/Ms,

I have informed at the Technical Service and also yesterday I have tested it with my own notebook and it reached up to 105 degrees, so your temperature is normal. It manages this temperature simply and It's nothing to concern about.

    Kind regards,
    ASUS@TSD

So for ALL G1S users who are concerned about the high GPU temperatures: It is just normal :)
