No matter which model you're talking about, yes there will be a BIOS update! I say that with 99.99% degree of confidence!
Let's think about it for a second. Why would ASUS not want to update the BIOS? The only reason that I can think of would be to shift sales to a new product release. That being said, there was a lot of money that went into the development of the new notebook models and they arent going to scrap them over simple BIOS update! The W3J, for example, has only been out for a couple months and would gain a mass level of appeal with a Merom chip dropped in. All of the current models are set to accept this new piece of highly anticipated hardware into their loving mother boards with arms wide open.
If you have any doubt in your mind that Asus will release an updated BIOS for their current fleet of Notebook models, you should stay clear away from business... take up cooking, or a trade of some sort. Work with your hands because your mind just seems to be getting in the way!

Thanks for slapping some sense into me

It's not just you... there are wayyy too many people worried that Asus is going to leave them hanging with their Duo Core processors. There's nothing to worry about... trust me

The main reason people are freaking about this Merom BIOS update are the Dell boys freaking out with rumors(or actualizations im not sure) that the next BIOS update will not allow the upgrade to Merom. So people speculate and wonder what about this brand notebook as such.

Its already been proven that you don't need a BIOS update. You can still use the new processor. The BIOS update just tweaks that much more.

Asus has released the v219 BIOS for the A6Jc (and prob the entire A6 series) which adds merom support. I am sure other updates for their popular laptops models will follow.
BIOS Update = Common Sense!
