LONG POST*****
Ok so I have had this laptop for little under 2 weeks now. At first it was amazing, and then I started getting the common problems I have been reading in this thread.
FIRST. I got a GSOD while playing gta eflc. I had been mucking around with the video drivers, installing, uninstalling etc, and I'm pretty sure it had something to do with that.
So I factory restored the laptop because I didnt want to take the risk of that happening again.
Setup the laptop again. At the tie 10.5cat was the most recent. Unistalled original drivers 10.5 was working fine no issues.
Then 10.6 came out uninstaled 10.5 , .6 seemed to working fine also. Until tonight.....
First I got a BSOD while trying to watch something off my external HD, boom error pops laptop restarts. I gotta admit its pretty scary seeig error messages popping up like that. You pay good money for something tht you expect to work with out any issues. Anyway.
Laptop restarts. Everything seems normal. So start to transfer over some files from the external HD to the laptop as I travel a bit and dont want to lugg around my 1tb HD everywhere. Seems to be going ok. Start watching some COD Blackops previews on youtube, then BOOM! GSOD.
What the F is causing this issue. Do I call up ASUS and harass them about it? Its BS that crap like this is actually happening. And I know I'm not the first person. Actually far from it as far as I can see. These forums seem to be flooded with GSOD problems.
Anyway. Creative software is non existent. I have 10.6 cat, 206 BIOS (As I dont know how to update, and also dont want to risk it)
So yeah any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

Ok. Kalim have you had any issues with your g73? Does anyone know if it is an actual hardware issue or just driver support issue?
-
- Update with BIOS .209 (Do it via easyflash from BIOS interface to reduce failure probability)
- Use 10.6 Mobility Catalyst
- Don't use creative drivers and software, use realtek instead
- Try setting your GPU clock to 705/1100 using GPU Tool
-
ok how do I use easyflash?where do I find it?

Also did you use a thumb drive to update?Seeing as I dont have one would you recommend me still updating??

10.6 drivers were extremely unstable for me, so I reverted back for 10.4, which gave me the best performance and stability. 10.5 was also good. if you're having problems with 10.6 then you should switch back to an older version.
