    Hi all,

I am currently in the process of reinstalling vista 64bit (using the provided recovery discs) to my g50vt x6. On the first try, after using the first recovery CD and then rebooting to continue the installation, the laptop bluescreened and forced me to start from the beginning again (as I am right now).

Is this a known problem and is there a quick fix? I have yet to see if it happens the second time again, but I rely on this laptop for college work so if anyone knows anything about this issue it would be greatly appreciated.

    More details please...

    -Do you have 2 HDs?
-Have you flashed your GPU BIOS?
    -What windows was installed previously?
    -etc...

Sorry for the lack of detail. I'm just freaking out a little LOL.
Yes. I have 2 hard drives installed. The one that came with it and an extra 500GB 5200 rpm drive I installed in the extra bay.

Other than that, I have made no changes to components and it was still on the factory install of vista 64. I never messed with the bios except to change boot order so the recovery disc would boot.

    Try the following:

-Remove your 500gb HD and install the OS on the hard drive arrived with the laptop, then plug it back if everything goes fine.

Well, strangely enough on the second try the intall went all the way through, however it never promted me to insert the second recovery disc which is a bit unnerving.

I really appreciate the help and quick response. It's good to know there is a tight community here to go in situations like this...
    Thanks again.

the G51 also never asks you to insert the second recovery disk, only the Driver and Utility CD, so you should be fine.

    You're welcome!

Just to confirm it, my G50-X8TW never asked for CD2 either.

Okay, I can feast assured now hehe.
One thing I am actually really pleased with upon reinstalling vista right now is how asus let's the user select what drivers and programs they want reinstalled after restoring. That's one thing my HP didn't do, and it's a nice option.
