After reading about the second recovery disk not being asked for and all this. Id like to backup the recovery partition and whatever else needed to a second hard disk but am not sure what all id need todo.
Using Seagate Disc Wizard / Acronis True Image to copy the partition. Now I would assume I need to make a backup of the mbr as well and restore both to the target drive?
Has anyone tried this before?

I could be wrong but I don't think you need the MBR. I say this because I changed mine during my dual boot but still had the recovery work. I believe the key is to keep the same partition name and make sure the partition is hidden. If you already have a drive I would try that and see if the recovery works on the new drive.

To back up the recovery partition using Acronis, it is best to do a sector by sector backup as opposed to a standard one. You don't need to worry about the MBR though.

nope, i haven't. i always clean install and backup on a ext hard drive.

It works, sort of. I copied the partition and then put it back when I went to RAID 0. A couple of things to note, you need to set the volume name to RECOVERY and make it hidden, or it will not boot from it when you press F9. So it went through the restore process just fine, but then it kept crashing or blue screening (can't quite remember) when it was booting Vista for the first time. Probably because the recovery image does not have the right driver setup for RAID0.
