Over the weekend, I noticed some never before seen backlight seeping through the lower left corner of the screen. It's about 2" up the left side extending to about 4" along the bottom. I saw it while a screen saver was running and then when I restarted (hoping against hope that it was just a mirage or jedi mind trick... it wasn't. :( ) The backlight isn't too bad, but I still am disappointed to see it on my previously perfect screen. Can it get worse over time? It's not a "bright dot" problem, but is this something that the warranty would address?

Did you mean light leakage? it's okay, most notebooks had them I think, mine too. I heard you can return your lappy if it's really bad and bothering you? dunno for sure

Yeah, I should've said light leakage. I know it's not uncommon, but I hate seeing it on my new IPS screen.

Right at the corners for me, I have a similiar issue, but its only less then half an inch at the bottom left and right corners, where it is a tad darker, uneven lighting.

Not sure if its an LCD problem, you can phone and ask though...

I only see the "light leak" spots during boot up and when a screensaver runs. I didn't notice any leakage for the first few weeks, so my real concern is that it will worsen over time.

I've never heard of it worsening over time. If you notice it getting worse by all means talk to your dealer and/or ASUS about it. It doesn't seem like a big deal though if you only notice it during boot and screen savers.

It depends, though if its relaly bad, you can easily get it replaced.
