I bought a backlit keyboard (NSK-UGJ01) from Asus and was told that it would work on an N61. I plugged both cables in, but the F3 and F4 keys do not work. I loaded the ATK hotkey software from the G series, but still no luck. Any ideas?

Others already found that the plug for the backlight does not work on laptops that didn't originally support backlit keyboards. You need to do a bit of soldering to make it happen unfortunately

Both Asus tech support and their e-store assure me that the N61 is compatible with a backlit keyboard (since they are the ones that sold it to me). There is a connector on the N61 motherboard for the backlight cable, so it appears that it is "backlit ready". I flashed with the newest BIOS but still no backlight. They suggested I send it to them for testing, so we'll see what they say.
    Thanks.

Well, that's like saying the new sata 6 hard drives are compatible with the sata 3gbits connections. They work, just ... well ...
