The laptop (G51VX-RX05) is not turning on with the battery even if it is reading it as charged, but it works plugged in with the adapter. Not sure if it's a battery problem or computer problem. I might buy a new battery to check, but I want to get some opinions first.

I'm kind of reluctant to send it in to ASUS because of how long it will potentially take.

Try some hardware monitor software .. everest/hwmonitor/...
It will show the battery capacity and atm. charge better then windows power management readout.
If it shows full and pc still won't turn on with it then it can be either battery or pc problem.
Only way to be sure to test battery in an other same model notebook, or test a new battery.
Try cleaning the contacts on the battery and on the notebook.

HWMonitor does acknowledge whether the battery is connected or disconnected.

Was wondering what capacities and voltage it shows if it's full or low.

If full or close to full:
it is might be radical and could damage the files or os if fails:
Run windows plugged in with hwmonitor running, and unplug from the power.
If power goes out instantly then 1 is damaged either the battery or the notebook.
If the power stays on in the notebook for a few seconds then most likely battery is died.
If the pc stays on keep watching hwmonitor if the capacity is falling fast or not.
If it stays on then it's something else with the startup.

You might be better off to show it to a repairman.

It goes out instantly when unplugged. Current capacity is almost at full capacity.

Either battery connection dead or the notebook battery/power connector.

Power transformer / parts / board is fine since it is powering the notebook and charging the battery.
But for some reason the power from the battery doesn't get back.

I didn't look in to it yet what all the connector on the battery does ..

You can only disconnect the battery and check if every connection is clean and nothing is stacked in there.
After that you need to rma or get it examined by a repairman who can open it and use multimeter.

I went and bought a spare battery and it works. Guess it's the battery. Maybe ASUS will reimburse or give me a replacement for the dead one.
